Rhythm & Recap is an independent editorial platform documenting the people, communities, and conversations shaping music and culture through conversations, reflections, curation, and storytelling.
We believe some of the most meaningful stories aren't always the loudest or the most visible. They live in rehearsal spaces, independent venues, community organizations, fan communities, creative partnerships, and the people building something long before the rest of the world notices.
Rather than simply reporting what happened, Rhythm & Recap explores why it matters, who made it possible, and what it represents. Every story is an opportunity to preserve culture, celebrate community, and create a lasting record of the people helping shape it.
Our Editorial Philosophy
Rhythm & Recap exists because not every important story becomes a headline.
Some of the most influential people in music and culture are building quietly.
Independent artists are cultivating communities. Producers are shaping the sound behind the scenes. Photographers are documenting moments that become history. Fans preserve memories long after an album cycle ends. Creative collectives build ecosystems that deserve to be understood—not just announced.
That's what Rhythm & Recap looks for.
We believe context is just as valuable as news. Rather than focusing on algorithms or trends, we focus on people, relationships, and the stories that help us understand why something matters.
Many of the people and communities featured here may not yet fit traditional definitions of "notability." That isn't the point.
History is often written after something becomes successful.
Rhythm & Recap believes documentation can begin much earlier.
Our goal isn't simply to report culture.

Hi, I'm Crystani.
Long before Rhythm & Recap existed, I was simply someone who loved paying attention.
Whether it was running fan pages, attending concerts, interviewing artists, or supporting creative communities, I found myself drawn to the stories surrounding the music just as much as the music itself.
Over time, I realized that many of the people shaping culture weren't always receiving the recognition they deserved. Independent artists, producers, photographers, community leaders, longtime fans, and creative collectives were building incredible things, but many of their stories weren't being documented.
Rhythm & Recap grew from that realization.
Today, I use conversations, reflections, interviews, and editorial storytelling to help preserve the people and communities shaping music and culture.
Based in Los Angeles, my work is rooted in curiosity, thoughtful documentation, and the belief that every meaningful movement begins with people willing to build something bigger than themselves.
Because sometimes the stories worth remembering are the ones that haven't been fully told yet.
